About Us

Thank you for stopping by and taking a peek at our blog. We hope you follow us and watch how we enhance the beauty, learn about its history, and most of all love this 1903 brick American Foursquare/ Prairie Box in Rockford, Illinois . It’s nestled in the Churchill Grove community, which is full of architectural charm. We can’t wait to give you a glimpse!

My husband I just Just married in December of 2018. Here we are 8 months later delving into our second big adventure together! Don’t know where this is going to take us, but we are excited to get started!

Closing day!

It’s been 1 week since we closed and have moved in! Although I feel not much was accomplished I have to keep reminding myself I have the next 30 years to get things I want, done!

The week started off after closing with, if anything could go wrong, it will…internet taking 7 hrs to hook up, not moving the easy stuff I could fit in our cars in time, then realizing that the house was not cleaned as I thought it would be!

That’s right, people buying a home for the first time, read this carefully… have the house deep cleaned prior to moving in or write it into the contract! There I sat less then 24 hours to moving in thinking, WTH this house is full of years of dirt and grim!! Now what? GROSS! Lesson learned!

Despite these minor frustrating set backs I decided to accept the fact of “It is what it is” and just move on and found the good out of it! Which was I had time to just sit (doesn’t happen often) and be with the house! It was pretty amazing!

I though about all it took me to get to this moment and became overwhelmed with pride in myself! It’s been a long haul, but every lesson and step was worth it! I just sat there and began to think if these 116 year old four walls could talk! The joy of each owner receiving her keys to start a new life! The joy of children giggling inside of her. The birthday celebrations and holidays with families. Snow, rain, spring time blooms around her. The cool breezes that glide through her porches, as they drank ice tea or lemonade on them ( side note I desperately can’t wait to have a glass of wine on them..lol). I’m sure she had her share of sadness, fights, tears and families outgrowing her. She took care of all of those families year after year and now here she is taking care of us!

Let our adventure begin!
